PMTM ADVICE ON GOAL-KEEPING FOR THE NEW YEAR

ree

The start of a new year offers the familiar feeling of a fresh start and new goals to be made and kept. Here at Pro-Model and Talent Management (PMTM) we share this feeling and understand the importance of goal-keeping in the new year. As the new year is now underway, we wanted to share a few tips and tricks on goal-keeping and how to maintain focus on staying motivated for 2022.

1. Get a Planner

Organization is key when it comes to staying focused and becoming a more "goal-oriented" individual in the new year. Getting a planner and starting to become organized plays a big role in reaching those goals we all have set for ourselves at the start of each new year. Writing out plans and aspirations is a great start in goal-keeping and fulfilling those new year resolutions we all make (whether we admit we make them or not). You can get a planner just about anywhere, and in any budget. If willing, you can spend some extra money on a larger, more detailed planner or even personalized planners like the ones seen on erincondren. Keeping a planner is a great start for anyone looking for more organization in their life and is key when it comes to goal-keeping.

2. Create Measurable Goals

A little goes a long way! Another important tool when it comes to goal-keeping is to make sure not to jump too far ahead of yourself, but instead create measurable goals (key word: measurable). It is sometimes difficult to take those small steps to get to where you want - but, as we know, nothing happens overnight. Start by creating small, measurable goals for yourself (write it out in a planner!) and then begin working from there. For example, let's say a goal for one of our models is starting something new in the entertainment industry, then they would write down some small measurable goals in order to get them to their end goal. After all, "slow and steady wins the race" and the same can be said here!

3. Weekly Rewards Are Key!

Alongside the slow and steady, it is often said "no work, no play." Here at PMTM, we agree in the belief that everybody can get some good out of a little treat or reward here and there - that is, after you've put in the work to your goals. Offer yourself a weekly reward (whether that be big or small) as an incentive for keeping on track with your new year resolutions and working toward whatever goals you have set for yourself. This can be something like getting a nice dinner on the weekend with friends after eating healthy and working out all week, treating yourself to a shopping spree after saving a specific amount of money, etc. A little reward for yourself is always a nice reminder and push to 'keep going' and is monumental in the success of goal-keeping.

4. Track Your Progress

It's important to be able to track your progress when it comes to setting and keeping your goals in the new year (during any time of the year really). Don't forget to track your progress when it comes to keeping goals! This can be done a number of ways, much like keeping reminders on your phone and detailing what you've done so far or (going back to the planner) writing it out and keeping track through there. Tracking progress is also a nice way of looking back on all of the work you've done so far and seeing how far you've come in achieving your goals.

5. Share Achievements

Setting goals and taking the proper steps to get to where you want to be would not be so enjoyable or fulfilling without people to share it with! Consider sharing your goals with a close family member, friend, significant other, or even a co-worker! Not only does it make your goal-keeping feel more worthwhile, but it adds some incentive to be able to tell that person or specific people the progress you've made to fulfilling your goals and resolutions.
